The Mix, Las Vegas

A spectacular dining experience atop THEhotel next to Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, The Mix has been my best Vegas dining experience: the open glass kitchen is awesome, as are the panoramic views of the city from the lounge and dining room. The decor is sleek and elegent and overall the environment is just over the top. Having said that, the food is even better, with innovative dishes and superb execution. Flavor profiles are right, diverse and deep. If you're a foodie, pass on Keller's Bouchon and Aureole and go to The Mix. (9.5)

Aphorisms

  • The Toothless Bite of Men
One cannot assume the truth of what one declares without presuming the falsity of all incongruous declarations. Since all men assume the truth of their declarations, this presumption becomes at best ironic and at worst outrageous. Given the infinity of possible claims, who could be so vain as to think their dismal claims true? The tragedy, of course, is that we cannot but make declarations. So it seems we must speak as Gods in order to converse as Men.

  • On Proof the World is Round
The only proof we need that the world is round is to consider that every man thinks he stands taller than the man next to him.
